When pro skier McKenna Peterson isn’t carving lines in the backcountry, she’s working as the captain of her family’s 58-foot commercial fishing boat. While this pairing might seem odd, the life McKenna has crafted allows her to follow the ocean and mountain patterns she loves. And there are more similarities than you’d realize. Both are exciting, unpredictable, harsh and beautiful.
“The reward for a summer of hard work is a winter spent in the mountains,” she says. Created over the course of a year by McKenna’s brother, Axel, we get a sneak peek into McKenna’s reality: fishing and skiing seasons that flow seamlessly from one to the other and the gear that transitions with her - her Ridge Merino wool base layers.
