Our Pursuit Collection (t-shirts, long sleeve shirts and hoodies) is made with Axio, a patented Japanese yarn spinning technique. A tiny polyester filament is spiraled inside super soft Merino wool to make the Merino wool far stronger than it would be on its own. This spiraling technique doubles the fabric’s durability and resistance to abrasion when compared to 100% Merino wool gear. This technique lets us keep the Merino wool content incredibly high (85%) while making a more durable garment.

Our Pursuit Collection offers surprising durability for ultralight Merino wool thanks to Axio technology. This allows us to make a thin fabric (135 GSM) with 85% Merino wool and a tiny bit of polyester that holds up over time. But it’s still natural, biodegradable Merino wool, so we do recommend being mindful to avoid thorny trails or tree branch snags, and make sure the fabric isn’t getting caught up in backpack buckles.

The Pursuit Hoodie is lighter weight and more breathable at 135 GSM, while the Solstice Hoodie is slightly heavier at 145 GSM. The Pursuit Hoodie features Axio technology with a Merino wool and polyester blend for ultralight durability. The Solstice Hoodie features our (m)Force Technology with a Merino wool and nylon corespun blend. The Solstice Collection has more sun protection at 35+ UPF. Yes, our Pursuit layers offer some sun protection, but not as much as our Solstice Sun Hoodies. If you’re looking for the best sun protection, you’ll want a Solstice Sun Hoodie or a Pursuit Ultralight Hoodie in a dark color. Our darker color Pursuit clothes have UPF 25+; lighter colors are unrated.
